Nitrogen Fixation!

As we begin talking about the kingdoms of life on our planet, we will start by learning about the smallest forms of life, known as microbes. Microbes are tiny, tiny forms of life that are essential to the growth and development of all other aspects of life. While there is a tendency to be repulsed by the thought that our planet is actually ruled by these microscopic critters, it is actually important that we recognize the tremendous value they serve us.

BlogWork!

Watch the video below and write 5-10 sentences about the importance of the microbe world.

Microbes are vital. They produce roughly half the oxygen we need to survive. It was also eventually discovered that microbes are responsible for nitrogen fixation. Meaning they dilute pure nitrogen with oxygen, making it plant friendly. Certain plants are adapted to attract microbes with small hairs around their roots. This helps the bacteria by giving it a home in the roots, and the plant because it receives ammonia.

Microbes are extremely important to human survival. This is because they produce about half of the oxygen we need to survive and also fix nitrogen. It fertilizes the soil so plants can grow better, including the ones we eat. Many plants attract microbes by having small hairs around their roots.

Microbes are one of the oldest and the most essential forms of life on Earth. They generate at least half the oxygen we breathe. However, it was also discovered in 1885 by a Dutch biologist to fix nitrogen, making it a key building block to all forms of life.
This is because the only way for animals to get nitrogen intake is through the plants they eat. Microbes make nitrogen into a compound more plant-friendly by combining it with oxygen and hydrogen. Many plants, especially legumes, have hairy roots to capture the microbes. This fertilizes the soil naturally and is better than artificial fertilizer, which about 1/3 of all crops are grown by nowadays.

The micro world is the oldest form of life on earth. Also they are important because they help support our life on earth. They also help us breathe at least half of the oxygen we use today. The micro world also helps with nitrogen and this is important because about 80% of the earth’s atmosphere is made of nitrogen. Also nitrogen fixes bacteria.

Microbes help produce nitrogen in soil. Without microbes the earth would not have enough nitrogen for humans to breath. Plants and animals also need the nitrogen produced by microbes. Microbes are also the oldest type of life living on earth. They create over half our oxygen.

1. Nitrogen fixing bacteria keeps us alive
2. 80% of the atmosphere is made of nitrogen
3. Microbes are the oldest form of life and generate half of the oxygen in the world
4. Nitrogen is too strong for plants and animals to break down, so microbes help by making compounds plants can live on
5. Humans depend on microbes for survival!

Microbes help plants gather nitrogen because in the air. Nitrogen is a very hard to digest gas like it would be hard to digest pure cinnamon. The microbes help the plants by adding oxygen to the nitrogen and that makes it more digestible, like adding sugar to make cinnamon sugar that is delicious. Dutch macrobiotics Martinus Beijerinck discover this as another critical use of microbes. Microbes also generate half of the air that we breathe. Some plants as an evolutional advantage created hairs on their roots to capture the microbes. After the discovery a scientist developed the first non-organic fertilizer. The fertilizer became widespread. Organic farming use a different way of breaking up the nitrogen in a place with poor soil. You plant a plant that has microbes in its hairs, and when it is grown you churn the plants into the soil, so you can fertilize naturally. If you get down to it, we depend on microbes to survive.

Microbes

Microbes are the oldest living things on Earth. They make more than half of the oxygen in the world. Microbes fix nitrogen. Nitrogen is important to all living things including humans. The only way we intake nitrogen is through food. The microbes turn the nitrogen in the soil into other compounds like ammonia, which plants can take in. A scientist learned how to fix nitrogen artificially. We need microbes to survive.
