Welcome to the first BlogWork assignment for the 2010-2011 school year. I would like you to spend a little time exploring this site so that you know about the kinds of things you can find here. Throughout the year, I will use this site as a learning environment as we move through the content of Earth Science.
This week we have been talking about "Elements", the substances found on the periodic table of elements that make up our entire world, and indeed the entire universe. Elements can stand alone as they are and be very useful. Iron is an element that we use every day in its pure form. Some elements want to combine with other elements to form something completely different (like salt, right?).
BlogWork
1. Please watch the video below and write three facts stated in the song about elements.
2. Search through the blogsite and write a sentence about something else that interests you.
All posts should be written in complete sentences.
Hit the "comment" button on the bottom of this post. Please give yourself a name so that I can give you credit.

Carbon in its ordinary form is coal and if you crush it it turns into a diamond. Also balloons are full of helium. Mostly every living thing has four elements and they are carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, and oxygen.
The bike monorail is the new future. It is awesome because you can go any where you want to go without traffic or a speeding ticket.
1) That oxygen rots away iron.
2) When you combined silicon and oxygen you get sand.
3) Neon is what lights up signs outside places like shops, and restaurants.
Iron is a metal and oxygen will make it rust.
Neon lights up the sun.
Stars are full of helium and so are balloons.
I thought it was interesting that The Vader Like Jellyfish is only
the size of an acorn.
Three things I learned about the elements were, that silicone and oxygen make sand. That the neon element makes the neon lights, like at restaurants and stores. Another thing I learned was that hydrogen may one day fill your car, and replace gas.
Something else I found interesting on the blog site was the “shweeb”. I thought that it was pretty cool how it was like a monorail, but its human powered.
1.) Carbon in it's natural form is coal, when you crush it together, it makes diamonds.
2.)helium makes up stars.stars are also mostly made of hydrogen.
4.) every living thing is mostly made of 4 elements:carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen and oxygen.
Bike powered monorail.
i thought that this was interesting because it was human powered.
1. That diamonds are made when coal is pressurized
2.That oxygen rusts iron
3. That Carbon,Hydrogen, and Oxygen makes sugar
1. Oxygen over time causes Iron to rust and deteriorate.
2. Coins are made out of Zinc, Nickle and Copper.
3. When silicon and Oxygen come together they can be turned into concrete, glass and bricks.
Something on the blog site that catches my attention is the people powered Monorail, because this could led to more green breakthroughs in the ways of transportation.
THAS RIGHT!
1. Silicon combined with oxygen makes sand. (SIO2)
2. Bacteria is made of four elements just like People.
3. The four elements in every living thing is Carbon, Hydrogen, Nitrogen :-), Oxygen.
It's just cool to do blog work again!!!
the song states that Hydrogen, carbon, and oxygen make sugar. I also found that almost all living are made of four elements. Lastly Silicon and oxygen make sand.
I find dirt to be of great intrest because most living origenate from the soil.
1. All living things are made of four elements.
2. Diamonds are just pressurized coal.
3. Coins are some times made of zinc.
I've never looked at the additional videos but I really want to.
Oxygen makes iron rust
Silcon and oxygen make sand
Neon is a gas in the sun, and lights up other things
Where did you find the Darth Jellyfish?
1)Carbon Is really coal and If you crash them together it will make a diamond.2)The Sun is lit by a Neon. 3) The coins we use and sometimes play with are made out of Copper, Nickle, and Zinc.
Solar panels capture the sun's energy and turns the energy into electricity.
iron is a metal that you see every day. phosphorus is the head of a match. carbon + hydrogen + Oxygen = candy.
i think the shweeb is cool because 2 people can join up together and go faster then 1 of them could
Eleaphants are made of 4 elements.
carbon is coal but when it is pushed and crushed together it makes diamonds.
Neon signs are acually made of neon not colored light bulbs.
I thought the may 18th post about fishies was interesting. I didn't know that stingrey were bottem dwellers. How's hank?
Peace Out
Seaborgium
1.) Oxgen makes irons rust.
2.) Silicon and oxgen make concrete bricks.
3.) Hydrogen may someday fuel cars.
Darth Vader Jelly seems interesting.
It was so cool and funny
and you can crush coal but it will turn in to a diamond in a million years
