Kingdom Protista!


The protists are a kingdom of organisms that consist mostly of single-celled organisms but also contains some related multicellular species. If you were to look at a drop of pond water under a microscope (as we shall do) you will find it teeming with tiny, wriggling creatures. Protists flourish wherever there is moisture. In many marine ecosystems, protists are the key organisms driving all of the others within the food chain.

There is a wide range of types of protists. No other kingdom includes so many different kinds of cells. Some photosynthesize, while others are heterotrophs (organisms that feed off of other organisms).

heterokontophytas are water plants that live mostly in the ocean. the plants are big but the protist itself is one cell with a cell wall made of natural glass. they are beautifly colored and neat shaped.

~~Zooxanthella

The Zooxanthella lives in the sea, they live on a sea slug, and they can make food from the sunlight. Since they need the light to live there are always a little bit out of the host. The Zooxanthella can turn white, because its just like coral.

ciliophora are single celled protists that are animal like and they move with the help of celia (little hair like strands). they will live in soil, fresh, and salt water.

Foramineferans = are single-celled animal-like Protist. they make shells out of calcium carbonate. they use pseudopods to "move, anchor themselves, and capture their food." most live in the sea but some live in damp moist rain-forest water

one of the oldest groups of eukaryote algae and the species is mostly multi-cellular marine algae.

Foraminifera are single celled organisms. They use calcium carbonate to build fascinating looking shells. they have pseudopods which they use to anchor themselves and capture their prey. Some live in damp reinforces soil while other in fresh water although majority live in the sea.

Chlorophyta is green alge has green seaweeds and pondweeds. The green color comes from clorophyll, and that makes their food. Most of them live in the water, but some can be on land, like on trees and rocks.

Almost all of the Rhodophyta are multicellular and live at the bottom of the sea. Red algaes are seaweed. Most of the "Red algaes " are edible.

The cilliophora are animal-like single celled protists. These protists use cilia to move in their environment, which could be salt water, fresh water, or soil. One of the most well-known cilliophoras is the paramecium.

Rhodophyta is red algae that lives in the sea as seaweed and is most of the edible seaweed that we eat.

Ciliophora are single celled protists. They can live in fresh and salt water as well as soil. Ciliophora use cilia to move around. cilia are hair like things on the outsides of their bodies. One of the most famous of this phylum is the paramecium, if you look in pond water you will probably find some.

Chlorophyta

Chlorophyta are green algaes, green seaweed, pond muck and the icky stuff you always see in the water. They are often wet and slimy and are considered icky. The reason they have the Chloro prefix is because they are green and chlorophyll is what causes plant's green color.
