Thursday's BlogWork

Hi everybody.  I'm sorry that I haven't been in school for the past couple of days.  I'm currently in the Rocky Mountains and I'm seeing some amazing rock formations.  The ecosystem is very different out here.  It is very dry and desert-like.  In addition, the Rockies are at a much higher elevation than what I am used to in Philadelphia.  As a result, I find myself breathing heavily after walking up a set of stairs.  Do you know why that is?

Go to the following link, read the source, and answer these questions:

1.  How long have biofuels been around?
2.  Why are gasoline and diesel ancient biofuels?
3.  Where do biofuels come from and how are they made?
4.  Are biofuels renewable or nonrenewable?  Why?

Above and Beyond:  Do you think that biofuels provide a viable energy resource for our country?  Why or why not?

Bio Fuels have been around since cars were invented. Gasoline and diesel have been around for so long because they are made from because they are made from decomposing plants and then burned. Bio fuels are made from plants that are grown today, because of this it makes them renewable.

1.  How long have biofuels been around?
As long as cars were around - The start of the 20th century
2.  Why are gasoline and diesel ancient biofuels?
Because they are made from extinct plants form millions of years ago
3.  Where do biofuels come from and how are they made?
Plants grown today
4.  Are biofuels renewable or nonrenewable?  Why?
Yes you can, You can just re grow the plant

Q1.  How long have biofuels been around?
A1. Biofuels were around since the early 1900th century
Q2. Why are gasoline and diesel ancient biofuels?
A2.  Gasoline and Diesel are ancient biofuels because they are from underground plants that have been present for many, many years.
Q3.  Where do biofuels come from and how are they made?
A3. Biofuels are mostly from plants including corn that gets broken down into tiny bits and also using different methods of breaking down parts of the plant including causing a chemical reaction to create the fuel.
Q4.  Are biofuels renewable or nonrenewable?  Why?
A4. Biofuels ARE renewable. They are made by plants. We can replant more and more plants and make more fuel. Thus, biofuels are renewable.

1. How long have biofuels been around?

Biofuels have been around since cars were created and were supposed to be used in henry fords Model T's as peanut oil in ethenol enigines

2. Why are gasoline and diesel ancient biofuels?

Gasoline and diesel are ancient biofuels, because they are made from decomposed plants and animals. Biofuels are similar, except that they're made from plants that are alive and are not made from animals

3. Where do biofuels come from and how are they made?

Biofuels come from plants thaat are liquified and turned into ethanol; ie corn

4. Are biofuels renewable or nonrenewable? Why?

biofuels are renewale as the plants they are made from can be grown in fertile and stable soil.

Above and Beyond:
Do you think that biofuels provide a viable energy resource for our country? Why or why not?

I do not think that biofuels provide a viable energy resource for our country, unless they find a less profitable plant that can be grown fastly and cheaply, then the crops used in the bio fuel will cause a deficeit in the crop production and selling as in corn when it was used in bifuels and casued a raise in food prices.

Hi Dan! How is it up there? Higher elevation = less oxygen = less oxygen per breath = more breaths needed FTW!

Anyway...

1. Biofuels have been around as long as cars have -- since the start of the 20th century.
2. Diesel and gasoline were made by extinct plants millions of years ago, so there is a finite amount as the plants no longer exist, which is why they are known as fossil fuels.
3. Biofuels come from plants that both are and can be grown today. They are generally made by chemical reactions, fermentation, and heat, of heavily processed...you guesses it, CORN!
4. In my opinion, biofuels are NOT renewable: the amount of CO2 is stops cars from emitting, has no effect as the process of making the biofuels creates more CO2 and the loss of the plants, which absorb CO2, really is just putting more CO2 in the atmosphere, which, probably soon, will kill all life on Earth...including plants...making it NOT a renewable resource.

Hi Dan! Hope U Enjoy Your Trip. I Think that you breathe heavier because you are higher up in elevation.

1.Bio-Fuels have been around since cars have. The beg. of the 20th century.
2.They are made from, decomposed plants and animals that have been under the ground for millions of years.
3.Biofuels are from plants, being grown today.
4.Renewable.

i know why your so out of breath its because the air molocules become more scattered the higher the altitude making it harder to get all the air molocules your brain needs. If you get to high up you can actually fall unconcious from the lack of oxygen.

Ever since cars existed, biofuels existed. Gasoline and diesel are ancient biofuels because they are decomposed plants and animals. They actually aren't called biofuels, but fossil fuels. Real biofuels use plants grown recently. Biofuels are made in Brazil with sugarcane, and biodiesal is available in europe. The great thing about biofuels is that they are a renewable resource because we can always grow more crops that suck the carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and also provide more fuel for the cars.

Bio fuels have been around since the dawn of time well not really they have only been around since we invented cars. Although gasoline and diesel are ancient biofuels because they are made from the plants that were fossilized from millions of years ago in ancient times. Today though we get biofuels from plants that are grown in modern times and they are renewable because we use modern growing plants.

Bio fuels have been around since cars were made. gasoline and diesel are bio fules because thay are just plants that have been decomposing for millions of years. bio fuels are made from plants we have grown like corn and suger cane. bio fuels are renewable because you can always grow more plants to make it out of

Bio fuels have been around since cars were created,Gasoline and diesel have also been around for a long time, they form from decompsting plants and animals that were in the soil for millions of years.

1. Biofuels was invented/ discovered when cars were, so they have been around for that long for that long

2. Fuels and diesel were made from the remains of plants and animals from millions of years ago

3. Biofuels are mostly grains like corn that have been broken down

4. Since they are made from plants, biofuels are considered a renewable energy source.
