Birds of Paradise

The Tropical Rainforest is filled with animals and plants with many amazing adaptations. Some adaptations make sense and are logical. For example, as you all figured out in class, plants that are located in the understory have broad leaves in order to capture as much light as possible. Other adaptations that you will find are less obvious.

Homework:

View the following video and comment on the bird of paradise's unusual behavior.

I thought all of the birds of paradise were very peculiar, I am amazed at some of their traits and just the way they look in general. I had no idea birds like this existed. For example, how one of the birds of paradise puffed out a bunch of feathers and started hopping around as a mating ritual. I thought that was just very interesting. I wish there were birds like this in Philadelphia =[

The bird of paradise walks very differently and at one point of the video, the bird looks like it is dancing in a dress. At the end of the video when it says something like it is easy to get the girl and the bird starts hopping around and making a slapping sound. This video was cool because of the birds uncommon behavier.

Those birds were bizzare, and so were the rituals that were done. What I thought was really weird was that bird at the end who started to make clicking sounds, extending its feathers, and dancing. I would like to see birds like this every day, because they are so interesting.

The bird was obviously trying to attract a mate. He had exotic adaptations such as shiny blue wings and a golden neck. Thease were most certainly desighed to be very impressive. He was very quick and agile.

The bird of paradise dance is one of the strangest things in nature I have seen. I’ve seen birds do mating dances and such, but this bird completely transformed its body into something else. If I had looked at it in that state I would never have guessed it was a bird. The little ritual it was doing was pretty funny since it almost looked like the bird was making it up as it goes.

That was 1 of the strangest videos I've ever seen. the bird was hilarious. It was funny when the narrator said that it was disappointing when your best wasn't good enough .

The video was something I never seen before. The way the bird tried to find a mate was different from any other way. You would have to design a ecosystem to impress your mate so you could be with him or her. I guess things work in a different process in the animal kingdom. It all seems so different but sad also since the male bird didn’t impress the female bird. The dance the male was doing also very different and was hard for me to understand. What was trying to do? But the different ways of animals are hard for us to understand. But we may figure it out someday.

That is my comment.
